When a pupil is doing well or not doing well we might often create a good understanding of this based on the pupils context; they are motivated, they have good parent support, they have high aspirations, they have a clear ambition.

We also know that the quality of the relationship between pupil and teacher can have significant impact on motivation, aspiration, ambition and commitment to learning.

In education our reflective practice can sometimes focus on educational process and interventions. In this workshop we are going to pause and reflect on how the ’human being’ within the teacher might impact the quality of relationship with Pupils and therefore the quality of their learning.

We will explore how might a teachers aspirations, motivations, values, frustrations, disappointments and own history impact the learning of those they are working with.
